Shalini was one of the eight participants selected competitively from across Commonwealth Countries to participate in the Story Development and Script Writing Workshop conducted by B3 Media, U.K., on behalf of Commonwealth Foundation towards the Commonwealth Foundation Shorts, 2012.
Under support from GIZ NABARD Rural Financial Institutions Programme, in this pilot of Aryavart Kshetriya Gramin Bank, the Bank Sakhis of the self-help groups (promoted by Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Parishad) are being trained to take on the role of the regional rural bank's business correspondents in their respective villages. This training video is a tool to be used by the Bank Sakhis while addressing the people of her village and explaining the benefits of being financially included. Such an intervention is expected to go a long way in bringing about total financial inclusion as per the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India.

Access to family planning among the undeserved sections of society can be enhanced by going beyond the health sector. In this film, the village health guides of NEED, a microfinance and development organization become a vital community link to family planning.
In this project, village health guides working in 70 villages in Sitapur District of Uttar Pradesh were trained to deliver basic family planning information to community groups receiving NEED’s microfinance services. As a result, women who were previously barely aware of family planning make informed choices on family planning methods to space and limit the number of their children. This is a key contribution to improving maternal and child health as well as the overall well-being of families.

In 2009, NEG-FIRE, with financial assistance from Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, launched the Eduleadership Programme in selected government schools in the four most educationally backward districts of Uttar Pradesh – Maharajganj, Azamgarh, Badayun and Muzaffarnagar. By developing a cadre of ‘eduleaders’ as catalysts and involving other stakeholders, the programme aims to bring out-of-school children back to school, change the methods of teaching and learning, and widen the perspectives that schooling can ever give a child. The film traces the milestones of this intervention and brings out voices of those impacted by it.

Thousands of children, some lost and some run-away, eke out a living on India’s railway platforms. Even as the vagaries of platform life take over, SATHI, a Bangalore-based NGO, works to relocate these children back to their homes. This film traces SATHI’s work from the railway platforms to their shelters, and from rehabilitation camps to their homes. Filmed in Bangalore, Delhi and Kanpur, a common thread in all SATHI’s work is their tremendous faith in the family system in India.

Here’s a glimpse into these monuments and the efforts to restore them to original glory.
